Mats for temporary roadways
When a project needs access for weeks or months, building a gravel road just to tear it out again costs time and money. A matted roadway goes down fast, carries heavy equipment from day one, and comes back up when the work is finished. The same mats can then move to the next site.
The challenge
- No existing accessPlenty of Alberta work sites sit beyond the end of the road, across fields, bush or low ground.
- Tight schedulesWaiting for ground to freeze or dry out, or for a built road to be permitted and constructed, can stall a project.
- Restoration at the endWhatever goes in has to come back out, and every rut or soft spot left behind is more work to restore.
How our mats help
- 01Fast install and removalMats are placed and picked up with standard equipment, so a road can be built or pulled in a fraction of the time.
- 02Interlocking load distributionOur interlocking system spreads heavy loads across the whole network, giving vehicles a stable, consistent base.
- 03Reusable, job after jobMats built with quality lumber, bolts and minimal countersinks keep their strength for many deployments.

Common questions
How quickly can a matted road be built?
It depends on the length of the road, the ground and the crew, but mats go down far faster than a built gravel road, and come up just as quickly.
What size are your mats?
Our standard mat is 8′ × 14′, weighs about 1,880 lb and has a solid core with a 181 carriage bolt pattern. We also offer custom mat design.
